4. EL BAUTISMO EN EL ESPÍRITU SANTO.

El Bautismo en el Espíritu Santo empezó el día de Pentecostés. Fue prometido por el profeta Joel en Joel 2. Es un regalo de Dios como prometió por el Señor Jesucristo para los que sean creyentes. Se recibe con posterioridad al nuevo nacimiento. Puede ser recibido por la imposición de manos o no. Este bautismo está lleno y con la evidencia de hablar en otras leguas según el Espíritu Santo les da que hablen. El bautismo viene por creer en el evangelio y en obediencia a Dios. Podemos pedir al Padre o a Jesús por el Espíritu Santo.

Cuando el Espíritu Santo viene, él solo habla o testifica de Jesús y Jesús es glorificado, el recibirá de Jesús y nos lo mostrará. Él no habla de sí mismo, pero cualquier cosa que oirá, es lo que él hablará y él mostrará cosas que vendrán. Nosotros no oramos al Espíritu Santo, oramos al Padre en el nombre de Jesús.

El Espíritu Santo conforta, edificá, enseña, lleva, guía, otorga poderes para testificar y recrimina. Hay nueve regalos del Espíritu Santo que puede trabajar en todos.

a. PENTECOSTÉS, EL DERRAMMIENTO DEL ESPÍRITU SANTO

Hechos 2

1 Cuando llegó el día de Pentecostés estaban todos unánimes juntos.

2 De repente vino del cielo un estruendo como de un viento recio que soplaba, el cual llenó toda la casa donde estaban;

3 y se les aparecieron lenguas repartidas, como de fuego, asentándose sobre cada uno de ellos.

4 Todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y comenzaron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el Espíritu les daba que hablaran.

14 Entonces Pedro, poniéndose en pie con los once, alzó la voz y les habló diciendo: «Judíos y todos los que habitáis en Jerusalén, esto os sea notorio, y oíd mis palabras,

15 pues estos no están borrachos, como vosotros suponéis, puesto que es la hora tercera del día.

16 Pero esto es lo dicho por el profeta Joel:

17 »“En los postreros días —dice Dios—,derramaré de mi Espíritu sobre toda carne,y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas profetizarán;vuestros jóvenes verán visionesy vuestros ancianos soñarán sueños;
18 y de cierto sobre mis siervos y sobre mis siervas, en aquellos días
derramaré de mi Espíritu, y profetizarán.

Joel 2

28»Después de esto derramaré mi espíritu sobre todo ser humano, y profetizarán vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas; vuestros ancianos soñarán sueños, y vuestros jóvenes verán visiones.
29 También sobre los siervos y las siervas derramaré mi espíritu en aquellos días.

b. ES UN REGALO DE DIOS

Hechos 2

38 Pedro les dijo: —Arrepentíos y bautícese cada uno de vosotros en el nombre de Jesucristo para perdón de los pecados, y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo,

39 porque para vosotros es la promesa, y para vuestros hijos, y para todos los que están lejos; para cuantos el Señor nuestro Dios llame.

Hechos 8

18 Cuando vio Simón que por la imposición de las manos de los apóstoles se daba el Espíritu Santo, les ofreció dinero,

19 diciendo:—Dadme también a mí este poder, para que cualquiera a quien yo imponga las manos reciba el Espíritu Santo.

20 Entonces Pedro le dijo:—Tu dinero perezca contigo, porque has pensado que el don de Dios se obtiene con dinero.

Juan 4

9 La mujer samaritana le dijo:—¿Cómo tú, siendo judío, me pides a mí de beber, que soy mujer samaritana? —porque judíos y samaritanos no se tratan entre sí—.

10 Respondió Jesús y le dijo:—Si conocieras el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: “Dame de beber”, tú le pedirías, y él te daría agua viva.

Hechos 10

44 Mientras aún hablaba Pedro estas palabras, el Espíritu Santo cayó sobre todos los que oían el discurso.

45 Y los fieles de la circuncisión que habían venido con Pedro se quedaron atónitos de que también sobre los gentiles se derramara el don del Espíritu Santo,

46 porque los oían que hablaban en lenguas y que glorificaban a Dios.

47 Entonces respondió Pedro:—¿Puede acaso alguno impedir el agua, para que no sean bautizados estos que han recibido el Espíritu Santo lo mismo que nosotros?

Romanos 8

9 Pero vosotros no vivís según la carne, sino según el Espíritu, si es que el Espíritu de Dios está en vosotros. Y si alguno no tiene el Espíritu de Cristo, no es de él.

10 Pero si Cristo está en vosotros, el cuerpo en verdad está muerto a causa del pecado, pero el espíritu vive a causa de la justicia.

11 Y si el Espíritu de aquel que levantó de los muertos a Jesús está en vosotros, el que levantó de los muertos a Cristo Jesús vivificará también vuestros cuerpos mortales por su Espíritu que está en vosotros.

Efesios1

13En él también vosotros, habiendo oído la palabra de verdad, el evangelio de vuestra salvación, y habiendo creído en él, fuisteis sellados con el Espíritu Santo de la promesa,

Hechos 19

1 Aconteció que entre tanto que Apolos estaba en Corinto, Pablo, después de recorrer las regiones superiores, vino a Éfeso, y hallando a ciertos discípulos,

2 les preguntó: —¿Recibisteis el Espíritu Santo cuando creísteis? Ellos le dijeron:—Ni siquiera habíamos oído que hubiera Espíritu Santo.

3 Entonces dijo:—¿En qué, pues, fuisteis bautizados?Ellos dijeron:—En el bautismo de Juan.

4 Dijo Pablo:—Juan bautizó con bautismo de arrepentimiento, diciendo al pueblo que creyeran en aquel que vendría después de él, esto es, en Jesús el Cristo.

5 Cuando oyeron esto, fueron bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús.

4. BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST.

The Baptism in the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit began on the day of Pentecost. It was promised by the prophet Joel in Joel 2. It is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to those who are believers. It is received subsequent to the new birth. It may be received by the laying on of hands or not. This baptism is an infilling and evidenced by the speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. The baptism comes with believing the gospel and in obedience to God. We may ask the Father or Jesus for the Holy Ghost.

When the Holy Ghost comes in, he only speaks or testifies of Jesus and Jesus is glorified, for he shall receive of Jesus and show it unto us. He does not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew things to come. We do not pray to the Holy Spirit, we pray to the Father in Jesus name.

The Holy Ghost comforts, edifies, teaches, leads, guides, empowers us to witness, and reproves. There are nine gifts of the Holy Ghost that may work in all.

a. PENTECOST, THE POURING OUT OF THE HOLY GHOST

Acts 2

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Joel 2

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

b. IT IS A GIFT OF GOD

Acts 2

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Acts 8

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

John 4

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Acts 10

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

c. THE BAPTISM IS SECONDARY EXPERIENCE TO BEING SAVED, BORN AGAIN OR RECEIVING CHRIST

Romans 8

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Ephesians 1

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Acts 19

1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

4. BOTEZUL CU DUHUL SFÂNT

Botezul cu Duhul sau Spiritul Sfânt a început în ziua Cincizeci mii. El a fost promis de profetul Ioel în Ioel 2. Acesta este un dar de la Dumnezeu așa cum a fost promis de Domnul Isus Hristos celor care sunt credincioși. El este primit după noua naștere. Poate fi primit prin așezarea mâinilor sau fără. Acest botez este o umplere și este dovedit prin vorbirea în alte limbi, după cum vorbește Duhul Sfânt. Botezul vine odată cu credința în Evanghelie și în ascultarea de Dumnezeu. Putem cere Duhul Sfânt Tatălui sau lui Isus.

Când Duhul Sfânt intră în noi, El nu face decât să vorbească sau să mărturisească despre Isus și Isus este proslăvit, căci El va lua din ce este al lui Isus și ne va descoperi. El nu vorbește de la El, ci va vorbi tot ce va fi auzit; și vă va descoperi lucrurile viitoare. Nu ne rugăm la Duhul Sfânt, ne rugăm la Tatăl în numele lui Isus.

Duhul Sfânt mângâie, zidește, învață, arată drumul, călăuzește, ne dă putere să fim martori și dovedește vinovăția. Există nouă daruri ale Duhului Sfânt care se pot arăta în toți.

a. RUSALIILE, REVĂRSAREA DUHULUI SFÂNT

Faptele apostolilor 2

1 În ziua Cincizecimii, erau toţi împreună în acelaş loc.

2 Deodată a venit din cer un sunet ca vîjîitul unui vînt puternic, şi a umplut toată casa unde şedeau ei.

3 Nişte limbi ca de foc au fost văzute împărţindu-se printre ei, şi s'au aşezat cîte una pe fiecare din ei.

4 Şi toţi s'au umplut de Duh Sfînt, şi au început să vorbească în alte limbi, după cum le da Duhul să vorbească.

14 Atunci Petru s'a sculat în picioare cu cei unsprezece, a ridicat glasul, şi le -a zis: ,,Bărbaţi Iudei şi voi toţi cei cari locuiţi în Ierusalim, să ştiţi lucrul acesta, şi ascultaţi cuvintele mele!

15 Oamenii aceştia nu sînt beţi, cum vă închipuiţi voi, căci nu este decît al treilea ceas din zi.

16 Ci aceasta este ce a fost spus prin proorocul Ioel:

17 ,,În zilele de pe urmă, zice Dumnezeu, voi turna din Duhul Meu peste orice făptură; feciorii voştri şi fetele voastre vor prooroci, tinerii voştri vor avea vedenii, şi bătrînii voştri vor visa visuri!

18 Da, chiar şi peste robii Mei şi peste roabele Mele voi turna, în zilele acelea, din Duhul Meu, şi vor prooroci.

Ioel 2

28 După aceea, voi turna Duhul Meu peste orice făptură; fiii şi fiicele voastre vor prooroci, bătrînii voştri vor visa visuri, şi tinerii voştri vor avea vedenii.

29 Chiar şi peste robi şi peste roabe, voi turna Duhul Meu, în zilele acelea.

18 Cînd a văzut Simon că Duhul Sfînt era dat prin punerea mînilor apostolilor, le -a dat bani,

19 şi a zis: ,,Daţi-mi şi mie puterea aceasta, pentruca peste oricine-mi voi pune mînile, să primească Duhul Sfînt.``

20 Dar Petru i -a zis: ,,Banii tăi să piară împreună cu tine, pentrucă ai crezut că darul lui Dumnezeu s'ar putea căpăta cu bani!

Ioan 4

9 Femeia Samariteancă I -a zis: ,,Cum Tu, Iudeu, ceri să bei dela mine, femeie Samariteancă?`` -Iudeii, în adevăr, n'au legături cu Samaritenii.

10-Drept răspuns, Isus i -a zis: ,,Dacă ai fi cunoscut tu darul lui Dumnezeu, şi Cine este Cel ce-ţi zice: ,Dă-Mi să beau!` tu singură ai fi cerut să bei, şi El ţi-ar fi dat apă vie.``

44 Pe cînd rostea Petru cuvintele acestea, S'a pogorît Duhul Sfînt peste toţi cei ce ascultau Cuvîntul.

45 Toţi credincioşii tăiaţi împrejur, cari veniseră cu Petru, au rămas uimiţi cînd au văzut că darul Duhului Sfînt s'a vărsat şi peste Neamuri.

46 Căci îi auzeau vorbind în limbi şi mărind pe Dumnezeu. Atunci Petru a zis:

47 ,,Se poate opri apa ca să nu fie botezaţi aceştia, cari au primit Duhul Sfînt ca şi noi?``

c. BOTEZUL ESTE EXPERIENȚA SECUNDARĂ PENTRU A FI SALVAT, NĂSCUT DIN NOU SAU PRIMIREA LUI HRISTOS

Romani 8

9 Voi însă nu mai sînteţi pămînteşti, ci duhovniceşti, dacă Duhul lui Dumnezeu locuieşte în adevăr în voi. Dacă n'are cineva Duhul lui Hristos, nu este al Lui.

10 Şi dacă Hristos este în voi, trupul vostru, da, este supus morţii, din pricina păcatului; dar duhul vostru este viu, din pricina neprihănirii.

2 şi le -a zis: ,,Aţi primit voi Duhul Sfînt cînd aţi crezut?`` Ei i-au răspuns: ,,Nici n'am auzit măcar că a fost dat un Duh Sfînt.``

3 Dar cu ce botez aţi fost botezaţi?`` le -a zis el. Şi ei au răspuns: ,,Cu botezul lui Ioan.``

4 Atunci Pavel a zis: ,,Ioan a botezat cu botezul pocăinţei, şi spunea norodului să creadă în Celce venea după el, adică în Isus.``

5 Cînd au auzit ei aceste vorbe, au fost botezaţi în Numele Domnului Isus.

6 Când și-a pus Pavel mâinile peste ei, Duhul Sfânt S-a coborât peste ei și vorbeau în alte limbi și proroceau.

Definiția Evanghelia

I Corinteni 15:1-2 ne spune că atunci când primim evanghelia și rămânem în evanghelie, vom fi mântuiți prin evanghelie. I Corinteni 15:3-4 ne spune ce este evanghelia:

Pentru că vă transmit învâi vouă ceea ce și eu am primit, cum că Cristos a murit pentr păcatele noastre după Scripturi (v. 3);

Și că el fost îngropat și că a înviat a treia zi după Scripturi (v. 4):

Când Dumnezeu a început să-mi arăte aceste versete ale scripturii, că Isus a murit, a fost îngropat și a înviat a treia zi, m-am luptat foarte mult cu intelectul și spiritul meu. Intelectul meu a vrut să spună că evanghelia a inclus fiecare eveniment care a avut loc din momentul în care Iuda l-a trădat pe Isus cu un sărut până când Isus s-a înălțat la cer cu sângele Său după înviere. De exemplu, m-am gândit că coroana de spini plasată pe capul lui Isus a fost o parte a Evangheliei. În același timp, spiritul meu știa adevărul, că evanghelia a fost pur și simplu că Isus a murit, a fost îngropat, și a înviat a treia zi.

Lupta cu intelectul

Vă voi arăta că și Apostolul Pavel a trăit și a scris despre lupta dintre intelect (fire) și spirit.

Pavel ne spune în Galateni 5:17:

Pentru că mintea poftește împotriva Duhului, și Duhul împotriva minții și acestea sunt contrare una alteia: pentru ca să nu puteți fave lucrurile pe care vreți să le faceți.

În I Corinteni 2:11, el afirmă:

Pentru că cine altcineva decăt omul cunoaște lucrurile omului, în afară de duhul omului care este în el? chiar și așa lucrurile lui Dumnezeu nu le cunoaște niciun om, numai Duhul lui Dumnezeu.

Apoi, în I Corinteni 2:14:

Dar omul firesc [mintea sau intelectul] nu primește lucrurile Duhului lui Dumnezeu, căci ele sunt o nebunie; și nici nu le poate înțelege, pentru că trebuie judecate duhovnicește.

Firea poftește împotriva Duhului. Niciun om nu poate cunoaște lucrurile lui Dumnezeu decât prin Duhul lui Dumnezeu. Lucrurile Duhului sunt o nebunie pentru omul firesc. Aceasta este lupta pe cae toți cei care umblă prin Duh o vor experimenta.

Depășirea Firii tale

Știam că Ioan 16:13 a declarat că Duhul Sfânt trebuie să “vă călăuzească în tot adevărul.” A trebuit pur și simplu să mă smeresc și să spun Domnului, “Eu nu pot să înțeleg acest lucru de un singur. Va trebui să mă înveți.”

Am început să practic II Timotei 2:7:

Luați în considerare ceea ce spun; și Domnul îți va da pricepere în toate lucrurile.

Scriitorul Proverbelor face o declarație similară în Proverbe 4:20-22:

Fiule, ia aminte la cuvintele mele; pleacă-ți urechea la vorbele mele (v. 20).

Să nu se depărteze de ochii tăi; păstrează-le în mijlocul inimii tale (v. 21).

Întrucât ele sunt viață pentru cei ce le găsesc, și sănătate pentru tot trupul lor (v. 22).

Pavel i-a spus lui Timotei să ia în considerare ce s-a vorbit. Scriitorul Proverbelor merge un pas mai departe spunând “pleacă-ți urechea” sau, altfel spus, coboară urechea sau acordă atenție la ce s-a vorbit.

Dumnezeu este singurul care știe de lupta pe care am avut-o învingându-mi firea. Vă voi oferi două pasaje din scriptură pe care Dumnezeu le-a folosit pentru a mă încuraja în acest moment. Uită-te la Filipeni 1:6:

Fiind siguri de acest lucru, că acela care a început o lucrare bună în voi o va termina [complet] până în ziua lui Isus Cristos:

Apoi, în Filipeni 2:13:

Pentru că este Dumnezeu acela care a făcut în voi voința și puterea de a face buna lui plăcere.

Domnul, slujindu-mi aceste două versete din scriptură prin Duhul Său, mi-a dat încurajarea de care aveam nevoie pentru a continua să aplic Proverbele 4:20-22 în viața mea.

Timp de câteva luni, Domnul m-a convins prin Duhul Sfânt că evanghelia a fost, pur și simplu “Isus a murit pentru păcatele noastre, după Scripturi; și că a fost îngropat și că a înviat a treia zi, după Scripturi; (I Corinteni 15:3-4).” Eu vă voi arăta mai târziu că aceasta este ceea ce a predicat Isus, aceasta este ceea ce au predicat apostolii și asta este ceea ce tu și eu avem de predicat.

“Isus a murit pentru păcatele tale” nu este destul

Înainte de a trece mai departe, vreau să subliniez încă o dată că evanghelia spune că Isus a murit, că a fost îngropat și că a înviat peste trei zile. Doar predicând “Isus a murit pentru păcatele tale” nu este de ajuns.

Uită-te la I Corinteni 15:13-17:

Dacă nu există o înviere a morților, nici Cristos nu a fost înviat (v. 13):

Dar dacă Cristos n-a fost înviat, atunci predicarea noastră este zadarnică și de asemenea, și credința voastră este zadarnică (v. 14).

Versetul 14 afirmă clar că dacă nu este înviere, propovăduirea noastră este zadarnică. Nu numai că predica noastră este în zadar, dar și credința noastră este în zadar.

Citiți versetele 15-17:

Mai mult decât atât, noi suntem găsiți ca depunând o mărturie falsă despre Dumnezeu, pentru că am depus mărturie că Dumnezeu L-a înviat pe Cristos, pe Care, dacă este adevărat că morții nu învie, nu L-a înviat (v. 15).

Dacă morții nu învie, nici Cristos n-a fost înviat (v. 16):

iar dacă Cristos n-a fost înviat, atunci credința voastră este zadarnică, iar voi sunteți încă în păcatele voastre (v. 17).

Observați că în versetul 17, dacă Isus nu a fost înviat din morți, noi suntem încă în păcatele noastre. Nu poți crede doar o parte a Evangheliei și să fii mântuit. Mai exact, nu poți crede că “Isus a murit pentru păcatele voastre” și să fii mântuit; dacă voi nu veți crede că Isus a fost înviat din morți, sunteți încă în păcatele voastre.

Acest lucru explică de ce astăzi Biserica are atât de multe probleme cu păcatul. Ei nu cred în înviere. În Matei capitolul 9, cărturarii s-au supărat cu Isus, pentru că El a spus un om bolnav cu paralizie că păcatele sale au fost iertate. În versetele 5-6, Isus spune:

Este mai ușor a spune că păcatele îți sunt iertate; sau a spune Scoală-te și mergi (v. 5)?

Darc ca să știți că Fiul omului are puterea pe pământ să ierte păcatele, (apoi zice el slăbănogului,) Scoală-te, ia-ți patul tău și mergi la casa ta (v. 6).

Isus nu a făcut nicio distincție între iertarea păcatelor și vindecarea bolnavilor. De ce? Pentru că El a avut încredere în puterea învierii. El știa că atunci când puterea atingea o persoană, păcatul pleca, la fel cum și boala trebuia să plece.

Puterea Învierii

Tot ce a făcut Isus pentru noi a devenit al nostru atunci când Isus a fost înviat din morți. Isus a luat păcatele noastre pe cruce, dar ele nu au fost iertate până când Isus a fost înviat din morți. Isus a luat toate bolile noastre pe cruce, dar noi nu am fost vindecați până când El a fost înviat din morți. Isus a luat sărăcia noastră pe cruce, dar noi nu am fost făcuți bogați până când Isus a fost înviat din morți.

Uitați-vă la II Corinteni 1:20:

Pentru că toate promisiunile lui Dumnezeu în El [Isus] sunt, și în El Amin, spre slava lui Dumnezeu către noi.

Toate făgăduințele lui Dumnezeu sunt și Amin prin Isus, dar nu experimentăm manifestările promisiunilor (iertarea de păcate, sănătatea divină, prosperitatea, etc) ținându-ne de promisiuni sau ținând Cuvântul. Experimentăm manifestările promisiunilor crezând în Evanghelie, sau, altfl spus, experimentăm manifestările promisiunilor bazându-ne pe evanghelie că le va face.

Efeseni 1:17-23 este o rugăciune cu care Pavel s-a rugat pentru biserică din Efes. Este o rugăciune cu care și eu mă rog frecvent pentru lume. Uitați-vă la versetele 17-20:

Fie ca Domnul Dumnezeului nostru Isus Cristos, Tatăl slavei, să vă dea duhul înțelepciunii și al revelației în cunoașterea Lui (v. 17):

Ochii înțelegerii voastre să fie luminați; ca să știți care este nădejdea chemării Lui, și care este bogăția slavei moștenirii Lui în sfinți (v. 18),

Și care este, față de noi, credincioșii, nemărginita mărime a puterii sale, după lucrarea puterii Sale mari (v. 19),

Care a lucrat în Cristos când a înviat din morți și l-a pus la dreapta Sa în locurile cerești (v. 20),

Înainte de a putea cunoaște aceeași putere care L-a înviat pe Isus din morți, trebuie să primiți un duh de înțelepciune și o revelație a cunoașterii lui Isus și ochii înțelegerii voastre trebie să fie luminați. Puterea care va face să se îndeplinească toate promisiunile lui Dumnezeu în viața voastră este aceeași ca și puterea pe care Dumnezeu a folosit-o în Isus când El a înviat din morți. De aceea o revelație a Evangheliei este esențială.

The Definition of the Gospel

I Corinthians 15:1-2 tell us that when we receive the gospel and stand in the gospel, we are saved by the gospel. I Corinthians 15:3-4 tell us what the gospel is:

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures (v. 3);

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (v. 4):

When God first started showing me these verses of scripture-that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day, I struggled greatly between my intellect and my spirit. My intellect wanted to say that the gospel included all of the specific events that took place from the time that Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss until Jesus ascended into Heaven with His blood after the resurrection. For example, I thought that the crown of thorns placed on Jesus’ head was part of the gospel. At the same time, my spirit knew the truth-that the gospel was simply that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day.

Struggling with the Flesh

I will show you that the Apostle Paul also experienced and wrote about the struggle between the intellect (flesh) and the spirit.

Paul tells us in Galatians 5:17:

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

In I Corinthians 2:11, he states:

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Then, in I Corinthians 2:14:

But the natural man [flesh or intellect] receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The flesh lusts against the Spirit. No man can know the things of God except by the spirit of God. The things of the Spirit are foolishness to the natural man. This is the struggle that every on who walks in the Spirit will experience.

Overcoming Your Flesh

I knew John 6:13 stated that the Holy Spirit has to “guide you into all truth.” I simply had to humble myself and say to the Lord, “I cannot understand this on my own. You will have to teach me.”

I began to practice II Timothy 2:7:

Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

The writer of Proverbs makes a similar statement in Proverbs 4:20-22:

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings (v. 20).

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart (v. 21).

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (v. 22).

Paul told Timothy to consider what was being spoken. The writer of Proverbs goes a step farther saying “incline your ear” or, put another way, bow down your ear or pay close attention to what is being spoken.

God is the One who knows the struggle that I had to overcome my flesh. I will give you two passages of scripture that God used to encourage me during this time. Look at Philippians 1:6:

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [complete] it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Then, in Philippians 2:13:

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

The Lord, ministering these two verses of scripture to me by His Spirit, gave me the encouragement I needed to continue to apply Proverbs 4:20-22 in my life.

Over a period of several months, the Lord convinced me by the Holy Spirit that the gospel was simply- “Jesus died for our sins according to scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures ( I Corinthians 15:3-4).” I will show you later that this is what Jesus preached, this is what the apostles preached, and this is what you and I are to preach.

“Jesus Died for your Sins” Is Not Enough

Before we continue, I want to emphasize once again that the gospel is that Jesus died, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day. Preaching “Jesus died for your sins” is not enough.

Look at I Corinthians 15:13-17:

But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen (v. 13):

And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain (v. 14).

Verse 14 plainly states that if there is no resurrection, our preaching is vain. Not only is our preaching vain, but our faith is also vain.

Read verses 15-17:

Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not (v. 15).

For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised (v. 16):

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins (v. 17).

Notice in verse 17, if Jesus was not raised from the dead, we are still in our sins. You cannot just believe a part of the gospel and be saved. More specifically, you cannot believe “Jesus died for your sins” and be saved; if you do not believe that Jesus was raised from the dead, you are still in your sins.

This explains why the Church today has so many problems with sin. They do not believe in the resurrection. In Matthew chapter 9, the scribes were upset with Jesus, because He told a man sick with palsy that his sins were forgiven. In verses, 5-6, Jesus says:

For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee: or to say, Arise, and walk (v.5)?

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, ( then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house (v.6).

Jesus made no distinction between forgiveness of sins and healing the sick. Why? Because He trusted in the power of the resurrection. He knew that when that power touched a person, sin would leave, just as sickness had to leave.

The Resurrection Power

Everything that Jesus did for us became ours when Jesus was raised from the dead. Jesus took our sins on the cross, but they were not forgiven until Jesus was raised from the dead. Jesus took all of our sickness on the cross, but we were not healed until He was raised from the dead. Jesus took our poverty on the cross, but we were not made rich until Jesus was raised from the dead.

Look at II Corinthians 1:20:

For all the promises of God in him [Jesus] are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

All the promises of God are yes and Amen through Jesus, but you do not experience the manifestations of the promises (i.e., forgiveness of sins, divine health, prosperity, etc.) by standing on the promises or by standing on the Word. You experience the manifestations of the promises by believing the gospel, or put another way, you experience the manifestations of the promises by relying on the gospel to perform them.

Ephesians 1:17-23 is a prayer that Paul prayed for the church of Ephesus. It is a prayer that I frequently pray for the world. Look at verses 17-20:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (v. 17):

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints (v. 18),

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his might power (v. 19),

Which he wrought [worked] in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places (v. 20).

Before you can know the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, you must receive a spirit of wisdom and a revelation of the knowledge of Jesus, and the eyes of your understanding must be enlightened. The power that will bring to pass all of the promises of God in your life is the same power that God worked in Jesus when He was raised from the dead. That is why a revelation of the gospel is essential.
