Overcoming a Spirit to Cast It Out

Doyle made a statement this afternoon:
“You have to overcome a spirit before you can cast it out.”
The reply was, “Alright, chapter and verse?”
First,
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
But also,
1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

We have all lived in the world, or we are of the world, but we must overcome the world and not love it. Do you see that? Why?

James 4:4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
So how do we overcome the world?
1 John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
How does our faith overcome the world?
First consider,
Mark 12:30
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. *
But how do we love God?
2 John 6
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
Now consider where does that faith come from that will overcome the world so we can cast out that spirit;
Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Do you see that Jesus Christ authors our faith? And finishes our faith? Jesus overcame the world when he was raised from the dead, as he says here,
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Therefore he is able to author and finish our faith. Jesus lived by faith, he walked by faith, he preached the gospel by the Spirit with faith, as he says here;
John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

II Corinthians 4 tells us that faith Jesus walked in and we walk in is a spirit:
2 Corinthians 4:13
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
Consider the faith we receive;
Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
God has given us a measure of faith according to the grace given unto us;

Romans 12:5-8
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
That faith given to us is a gift,
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Do you see this verse? First of all we are saved by grace through faith, and that is a gift of God. Everything that we received after being saved is through grace and faith. Do you see how that goes right along with Hebrews 12, as to Jesus being the author and finisher of our faith?
Having understanding of these scriptures you can see you have to overcome the world with your faith that is given to you by Jesus, and when you have overcome that spirit you are wrestling with you will have the faith to cast it out.

God bless,

*This is not one of the ten. Look at where this first commandment was given:

Deuteronomy 6:1-25
1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
15 (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers.
19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.
20 And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?
21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:
22 And the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.
24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

Praise and Worship - Isaiah 35

Testimonies Shared by Karen Fairchild

I have 2 testimonies to share. Both told to me by women. One lady shared with me years ago that the Lord had answered some of her prayers, and she was just full of thanks and praise to Him for what He had done. It seemed mere words could not express her thanks to Him. And all of the sudden she began to 'speak in other tongues' and then she was able to give beautiful expression to the Lord for His Goodness to her. Another woman shared with me that when she was 15 years old she was at some church from her childhood, and at some point folks started to go to the alter. She was compelled to go to that alter. I believe she told me she knelt down and she was Baptized in the Holy Ghost and began speaking in tongues, no one prayed for her or touched her. She was just hungry to know Him. This latter woman has been used of God to help pray many through serious crisis in their lives. By praying in tongues. When I was a teenager, I was very hungry for more of the Lord, and a woman was led by God to ask me if I were ready for another experience. And she prayed for me and I began to speak in tongues. Being able to pray in that language was absolutely crucial to being able to overcome trouble I was faced with for many years. Situations changed right before my eyes. God upheld me. And to this day I gain insight or direction for my life while praying in the Spirit.
And I have prayed for some to receive this experience and they received it. If you hunger and thirst, come and get filled.
Jesus desires for 'you" to have this experience. It will deepen your walk with Him. Jesus told his disciples - But ye shall receive 'power' , after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. So the significance of this Baptism in the Holy Ghost enables a person to pack more of a punch in their prayer time.
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groanings that cannot be uttered 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Romans 8
Acts 2
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
>>39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. <<
And Jesus wanted them to have this experience. To be endued with Power from on high. And the Bible says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. So consider this next step in your walk with the Lord. Jesus wants you to know Him in the deepest possible way. Enter in to His Fullness. God Bless

Matei 5:44

1 Peter 4:12-19 Beloved Think It Not Strange

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
We have all have spoken these words, “What is going on? Why is this happening to me?” We are being tried in the fire. God is walking us through these things because He loves us. We have to learn to trust Him and walk by faith. That is the only way we are going to make it in these last days.
1 Peter 1:7 says, That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Remember, we already have the victory, it has been won! We have to keep fighting the good fight of faith, and the things that God has promised us, will surely come to pass and the victory will be sweet!
God bless,
