Great Testimony of the Power of God

After reading the new testament this morning, I started praying Isaiah 53:4-5, as I did chore's around the house. Within a few minutes, this testimony of Doyle Davidson came up in my heart and I became more strengthen and my faith started to rise up.

Doyle left Argyle in June 1976 and moved to Carrolton, living there for
eleven months. The following is a testimony of overcoming physical
affliction:
“My grandfather, Frank Miller started walking with a cane when he
was forty years old, because of pain in his knees. The devil told me for
years, ‘When you turn forty you are going to have knee problems like
your grandfather.’ I had been under tremendous pressure in Argyle from
religious spirits with Baptists ministers who had been after me because I
wouldn’t submit to their church. It brought great affliction to my body
and my knees were very sore, making it hard for me to mow my yard with
a push mower.
I purposed one day in June, I was going to overcome this, I WAS going
to mow my yard with a push mower, and I walked for two miles on a
concrete sidewalk, in great pain, speaking Isaiah 53:
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did
esteem his stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed.
The next day, I could barely walk. I said, ‘Devil, I’m going two more
miles’ and after about a mile and a half walking on the sidewalk
speaking Isaiah 53:4-5, the power of God broke through and healed my
knees and they have never hurt since. I have jogged on asphalt, concrete,
grass, wherever I’ve been, and today thirty-six years later, there is not a
pain in either knee.

11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.

12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.

13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.

14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.

18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.

19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?

20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.

22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.

24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?

27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.

30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.

33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.

34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?

37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.

38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

3 Isus le-a răspuns:

– Nu este nici pentru că a păcătuit el, nici pentru că au păcătuit părinţii lui, ci s-a născut aşa ca să se arate în el lucrările lui Dumnezeu. 4 Cât este zi, trebuie să lucrăm lucrările Celui Ce M-a trimis. Vine noaptea, când nimeni nu mai poate să lucreze. 5 Cât sunt în lume, sunt lumina lumii.

6 Şi zicând aceasta, a scuipat pe pământ, a făcut nişte noroi din salivă şi l-a pus pe ochii orbului. 7 Apoi i-a zis: „Du-te şi spală-te în bazinul Siloamului!“ Tradus, Siloam înseamnă «Trimis» El s-a dus, s-a spălat şi s-a întors văzând bine. 8 Vecinii şi cei care-l văzuseră mai înainte, pe când era cerşetor, se întrebau: „Nu este acesta cel ce şedea şi cerşea?!“ 9 Unii ziceau: „El este!“ Alţii ziceau: „Nu, dar seamănă cu el!“ Iar el zicea: „Eu sunt!“ 10 Prin urmare, l-au întrebat:

– Cum atunci ţi-au fost deschişi ochii?

11 El a răspuns:

– Omul Acela, Căruia I se zice Isus, a făcut noroi, mi-a uns ochii şi mi-a zis: „Du-te la Siloam şi spală-te!“ Aşa că m-am dus, m-am spălat şi apoi am putut vedea.

12 Ei l-au întrebat:

– Unde este El?

– Nu ştiu! a răspuns el.

13 L-au adus la farisei pe cel ce fusese orb. 14 Ziua în care Isus făcuse noroi şi-i deschisese ochii era o zi de Sabat. 15 Din nou, fariseii l-au întrebat şi ei cum de şi-a căpătat vederea. El le-a răspuns:

– Mi-a pus noroi pe ochi, m-am spălat şi văd!

Cercetarea celui vindecat de către farisei

16 Unii dintre farisei ziceau: „Acesta nu este de la Dumnezeu, pentru că nu ţine Sabatul!“ Alţii însă ziceau: „Cum poate un om păcătos să facă astfel de semne?!“ Aşa că era dezbinare între ei. 17 L-au întrebat din nou pe orb:

– Tu ce zici despre El, pentru că ţie ţi-a deschis ochii?

El le-a răspuns:

– Este un profet.

18 Iudeii însă n-au crezut că fusese orb şi că îşi căpătase vederea, până când nu i-au chemat pe părinţii lui. 19 Ei i-au întrebat:

– Acesta este fiul vostru, despre care spuneţi că s-a născut orb? Atunci cum de vede acum?

20 Părinţii lui au răspuns:

– Ştim că acesta este fiul nostru şi că s-a născut orb, 21 însă cum de vede acum sau Cine i-a deschis ochii, nu ştim. Întrebaţi-l pe el! Este în vârstă şi va vorbi el cu privire la sine!

22 Părinţii lui au spus aceste lucruri fiindcă le era frică de iudei. Căci iudeii hotărâseră deja că dacă va mărturisi cineva că Isus este Cristosul, să fie dat afară din sinagogă. 23 De aceea au zis părinţii lui: „Este în vârstă; întrebaţi-l pe el!“

24 L-au chemat a doua oară pe omul care fusese orb şi i-au zis:

– Dă slavă lui Dumnezeu! Noi ştim că Omul Acesta este păcătos.

25 El le-a răspuns:

– Dacă este păcătos, nu ştiu. Eu una ştiu: eram orb, iar acum văd!

26 Ei l-au întrebat:

– Ce ţi-a făcut? Cum ţi-a deschis ochii?

27 El le-a răspuns:

– V-am spus deja, dar n-aţi ascultat. De ce vreţi să auziţi din nou? Doar nu vreţi şi voi să deveniţi ucenicii Lui?!

28 Ei l-au insultat şi i-au zis:

– Tu eşti ucenicul Aceluia! Noi însă suntem ucenicii lui Moise! 29 Noi ştim că lui Moise i-a vorbit Dumnezeu, dar Acesta nu ştim de unde este!

30 Omul le-a răspuns:

– Dar tocmai acesta este lucrul de mirare, că voi nu ştiţi de unde este şi totuşi El mi-a deschis ochii! 31 Ştim că Dumnezeu nu-i ascultă pe păcătoşi, dar dacă cineva este temător de Dumnezeu şi face voia Lui, pe acela îl ascultă. 32 De când este lumea nu s-a auzit ca cineva să deschidă ochii unuia care s-a născut orb. 33 Dacă Acesta nu era de la Dumnezeu, n-ar fi putut face nimic.

34 Ei i-au zis:

– Tu ai fost născut cu totul în păcat şi tu ne înveţi pe noi?!

Şi l-au dat afară.

Orbirea spirituală

35 Isus a auzit că l-au dat afară şi când l-a găsit l-a întrebat:

– Tu crezi în Fiul Omului[c]?

36 El I-a răspuns:

– Şi Cine este, Domnule, ca să cred în El?

37 Isus i-a zis:

– L-ai şi văzut; Cel Ce vorbeşte cu tine este Acela!

38 (El a răspuns:

– Cred, Doamne!

Şi I s-a închinat. 39 Isus i-a zis:)[d]

– Eu am venit în lumea aceasta pentru judecată, pentru ca cei ce nu văd, să vadă, iar cei ce văd, să devină orbi.

40 Unii dintre fariseii care erau cu El, când au auzit acestea, I-au zis:

– Doar nu suntem şi noi orbi?!

41 Isus le-a răspuns:

– Dacă aţi fi orbi, n-aţi avea păcat; dar acum, pentru că ziceţi: „Vedem!“, păcatul vostru rămâne!

CE ESTE EVANGHELIA?/WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? by Doyle Davidson Chapter 7 română/engleză

Cuvântul Credință, Capitolul 7

Astăzi există mulți predicatori care învață că trebuie să crezi în Cuvântul scris sau, altfel spus, că trebuie să găsești promisiunea în Biblie și să crezi în ea. După cum Dumnezeu m-a instruit în II Timotei 2:7, aș vrea să luați în considerare pasajele din scriptură și să il lăsați pe Dumnezeu să vă dea înțelegere.

Aș vrea să încep uitându-ne la Romani 10:8-9:

Ce zice ea deci? Cuvântul este aproape de tine: în gura ta și în inima ta; și cuvântul acesta este cuvântul credinței, pe care-l propovăduim noi (v. 8);

Dacă măturisești deci cu gura ta pe Isus ca Domn, și dacă crezi în inima ta că Dumnezeu L-a înviat din morți, vei fi mântui (v. 9).

Versetul 8 afirmă că “cuvântul credinței” este aproape de tine. Ce este “cuvântul credinței”? Este orice cuvânt al lui Dumnezeu, așa cum învață mulți predicatori?

Aș vrea să vă uitați atent la punctuație în versetul 8. Veți găsi că versetul 8 se încheie cu punct și virgulă. Acest lucru ne spune că versetul 9 este strâns legat de versetul 8. Deci, ce este “cuvântul credinței, pe care-l propovăduim”? Cuvântul credinței este Evanghelia--că Isus a murit, a fost îngropat și înviat a treia zi. Asta afirmă versetul 9.

Credința Vine prin Auzirea

O altă învățătură pe care o auziți este că credința vine prin auzirea oricărui cuvântul al lui Dumnezeu în Biblie. Uită-te la Romani 10:13-15:

Fiindcă oricine va chema Numele Domnului va fi mântuit (v. 13).

Dar cum vor chema pe Acela în care n-au crezut? Și cum vor crede în Acela, despre care n-au auzit? Și cum vor auzi despre El fără propovăduitor (v. 14)?

Și cum vor propovădui, dacă nu sunt trimiși? După cum este scris: Cât de frumoase sunt picioarele celor ce vestesc pacea, ale celor ce vestesc Evanghelia (v. 15)!

Capitolul 15 ne spune ce ar trebui să predice predicatorii. Ar trebui să predice Evanghelia păcii.

Continuați să citiți versetul 16:

Dar nu toți au ascultat de Evanghelie. Căci Isaia zice: Doamne, cine a crezut propovăduirea noastră?

Ei nu au ascultat evanghelia--moartea, înroparea și învierea lui Isus. În versetul 16, Pavel echivalează ascultarea și credința. Dacă ascultați evanghelia, voi veți crede sau vă veți baza pe evanghelie.

Acum, uitați-vă la Romani 10:17:

Astfel, credința vine în urma auzirii, iar auzirea vine prin Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu.

Acest lucru este foarte important. “Astfel, credință...” Trebuie să citiți Romani 10:17, împreună cu versetele anterioare. Nu puteți să scoateți din context acest verset și sî spuneți că credința vine prin auzirea oricărui cuvânt al lui Dumnezeu. Versetele anterioare se referă clar la Evanghelie și Evanghelia este Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, prin care vine credința.

Duhul Sfânt mărturisește Evanghelia

Aș dori să revin la Faptele Apostolilor capitolul 10 și să ne uităm la alte versete din scriptură. Faptele Apostolilor 10:36-38 afirmă:

El a trimis Cuvântul Său fiilor lui Israel și le-a vestit Evanghelia păcii, prin Isus Hristos ( el este Domnul tuturor:) (v. 36).

Știți vorba făcută prin toată ludea, începân din Galilea, în urma botezului propovăduit de Ioan (v. 37);

Cum Dumnezeu a uns cu Duhul Sfânt și cu putere [abilitate] pe Isus din Nazaret, care umbla din loc în loc, făcând bine și vindecând pe toți cei ce erau apăsați de diavol; căci Dumnezeu era cu El (v. 38).

Am auzit un bine-cunoscut predicator de televiziune în Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex spunând că versetul 38 este Evanghelia. Poate că și mulți dintre voi ați auzit acest lucru. Ce spunea acest predicator este că Evanghelia este- “Dumnezeu L-a uns pe Isus cu Duhul Sfânt și pentru a vindeca pe toți cei care erau apăsați de diavolul.”

Ei bine, Isus a acționat în puterea Evangheliei și vindecarea este unul dintre semnele care urmează pe cei care cred Evanghelia. Totuși, Faptele Apostolilor 10:38 nu sunt Evanghelia. Vreau să fiu sigur că ați înțeles acest lucru, pentru că dacă voi ți eu trebuie să ținem puternic la Evanghelie--dacă voi și eu vom merge în toată lumea și vom predica Evanghelia, atunci trebuie să avem o înțelegere clară a ceea ce este Evanghelia.

Uitați-vă la Faptele Apostolilor 5:29-32. Petru și ceilalți apostoli se aflau în fața consiliului:

Petru și ceilalți apostoli, drept răspuns, i-au zis: Trebuie să ascultăm mai mult de Dumnezeu decât de oameni (v. 29).

Dumnezeu părinților noștri L-a înviat pe Isus, pe care voi L-ați omorât, atârnându-L pe lemn (v. 30).

Pe acest Isus Dumnezeu L-a înălțat cu puterea Lui și L-a făcut Domn și Mântuitor, ca să dea lui Israel pocăința și iertarea păcatelor (v. 31).

Noi suntem martori ai acestor lucruri, ca și Duhul Sfânt, pe care L-a dat Dumnezeu celor ce ascultă de El (v. 32).

Ce mărturisește Duhul Sfânt? Uitați-vă din nou la versetele 30 și 31. Duhul Sfânt mărturisește moartea, îngroparea și învierea lui Isus.

Dacă tot ce predicați este că Isus a fost uns cu Duhul Sfânt și cu putere sau că Isus a vindecat bolnavii, propovăduirea voastră este goală și voi nu propovăduiți Evanghelia. Voi propovăduiți numai slova. Consideră II Corinteni 3:6:

Care ne-a și făcut în stare să fim slujitori ai unui legământ nou, nu al slovei, ci al Duhului; căci slova omoară, dar Duhul dă viață.

Duhul Sfânt mărturisește adevărul. Duhul Sfânt mărturisește că Isus a murit, a fost îngropat și a înviat a treia zi. Când Duhul Sfânt mărturisește propovăduirea ta, acesta va produce viață în oamenii care o aud.

The Word Of Faith, by Doyle Davidson, Chapter 7

There are a lot of preachers today who teach that you must stand on the written Word or put another way, that you must find your promise in the Bible and stand on it. As God taught me in II Timothy 2:7, I would like for you to consider the passages of scripture in this chapter and let God give you understanding.

I would like to begin by looking at Romans 10:8-9:

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach (v. 8);

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (v. 9).

Verse 8 states that the “word of faith” is nigh thee. What is the “word of faith”? Is it any word of God as many preachers teach?

I want you to look closely at the punctuation in verse 8. You will find that verse 8 ends with a semicolon. This should tell you that verse 9 is closely related to verse 8. So, what is the “word of faith, which we preach”? The word of faith is the gospel--that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day. That is what verse 9 states.

Faith Comes by Hearing

Another teaching that you hear is that faith comes by hearing any word of God in the Bible. Look at Romans 10:13-15:

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (v. 13).

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher (v. 14)?

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things (v. 15)!

Verse 15 tells us what preachers should be preaching. They should be preaching the gospel of peace.

Continue reading verse 16:

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

They have not obeyed the gospel--the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. In verse 16, Paul equates obedience and believing. If you obey the gospel, you will believe, or rely on, the gospel.

Now, look at Romans 10:17:

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

This is very important. “So then faith...” You must read Romans 10:17 in conjunction with the previous verses. You cannot pull this verse out of context and say that faith comes by hearing any word of God. The previous verses clearly refer to the gospel, and the gospel is the word of God by which faith comes.

The Holy Spirit Bears Witness to the Gospel

I would like to go back to Acts chapter 10 and look at some other verses of scripture. Acts 10:36-38 states:

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: ( he is Lord of all:) (v. 36)

That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached (v. 37);

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power [ability]: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (v. 38).

I heard a well-known television preacher in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex say that verse 38 is the gospel. Many of you may have heard this as well. What this preacher is saying is that the gospel is-- “God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power, and He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.”

Well, Jesus operated in the power of the gospel, and healing is one of the signs that follows those who believe the gospel. However, Acts 10:38 is not the gospel. I want to make sure that you understand this, because if you and I are supposed to hold fast to the gospel--if you and I are to go into all the world and preach the gospel, then we need to have a clear understanding of what the gospel is.

Look at Acts 5:29-32. Peter and the other apostles were before the council:

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men (v. 29).

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree (v. 30).

Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins (v. 31).

And we are witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (v. 32).

To what does the Holy Spirit bear witness? Look at verse 30 and 31 again. The Holy Spirit bears witness to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

If all you preach is that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power or that Jesus healed the sick, your preaching is empty, and you are not preaching the gospel. You are preaching the letter. Consider II Corinthians 3:6:

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

The Holy Spirit bears witness to the truth. The Holy Spirit bears witness to Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day. When the Holy Spirit bears witness to your preaching, it will produce life in the people who hear.
