Exhortation

There are times when there seems to be a stone wall in front of us. There are times when there are no feelings. There are times when everything seems as black as midnight, and there is nothing left by confidence in God. What you must do is have the devotion and confidence to believe that He will not fail, and cannot fail. You will never get anywhere if you depend on your feelings. There is something a thousand times better than feelings, and it is the powerful Word of God. Smith Wigglesworth

Darul lui Hristos, Capitolul 9

Odată ce ați primit o revelație a Evangheliei, trebuie să îl ascultați pe Isus ca să dați roade în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu. În Ioan 15:4-5, Isus a spus:

Rămâneți în Mine și Eu voi rămâne în voi! Așa cum mlădița nu poate aduce rod de la sine, dacă nu rămâne în viță, tot așa nici voi nu puteți, dacă nu rămâneți în Mine (v. 4).

Eu sunt vița, iar voi sunteți mlădițele. Cel care rămâne în Mine și în care rămân Eu aduce mult rod, pentru că despărțiți de Mine nu puteți face nimic (v. 5).

Atât de mulți oameni din Biserica de astăzi cred că otată ce primesc un pic de cunoștințe ale Cuvântului, au dreptul să meargă oriunde și să predice. Totuși, în versetul 4, Isus spune că noi nu putem aduce roadă nouă înșine. Versetul 5 afirmă că fără Isus noi nu putem face nimic. Este Isus acela care, stând în noi, dă roadă.

Uitați-vă la Galateni 2:20:

Și nu mai trăiesc eu, ci Hristos trăiește în mine, iar viața pe care o trăiesc acum în trup o trăiesc prin credința în Fiul lui Dumnezeu, Care m-a iubit și S-a dat pe Sine Însuși pentru mine.

Oamenii morți nu pot da roade. Dacă sunteți răstigniți împreună cu Hristos, nu mai sunteți în viață și nu mai puteți da roade.

La mijlocul anilor 1970, Isus mi-a vorbit prin Ioan 15:16:

Nu voi M-ați ales pe Mine, ci Eu v-am ales pe voi și v-am pus să mergeți și să aduceți rod, iar rodul vostru să rămână, pentru că orice-I veți cere Tatălui în Numele Meu să vă dea.

Isus este cel care ne alege pe noi și ne poruncește să facem lucruri de slujire.

Acum, uitați-vă la Efeseni 4:7:

Dar fiecăruia dintre noi ne-a fost dat harul după măsura darului lui Hristos.

Nu poți studia drumul tău spre Dumnezeu. Nu poți mărturisi drumul tău spre Dumnezeu. Chemarea lui Dumnezeu în viața noastră este un dar și vine prin har. Cum putem accesa acel har?

Citiți Romani 5:1-2:

De aceea, fiindcă am fost îndreptățiți prin credință, avem pace [a] cu Dumnezeu prin Domnul nostru Isus Hristos (v. 1):

Prin Care am intrat, prin credință, în acest har, în care stăm; și ne lăudăm în nădejdea slavei lui Dumnezeu (v. 2).

Versetul 2 afirmă că avem acces la harul lui Dumnezeu prin credință. Romani 10:17 spune ca credință vine prin auzirea cuvântul lui Dumnezeu. V-am arătat mai devreme în această carte că Evanghelia--că Isus a murit, a fost îngropat și că a înviat a treia zi--este cuvântul lui Dumnezeu pe care trebuie să îl auziți pentru ca să vină la voi credința.

Munca pe care Dumnezeu o are pentru fiecare dintre noi, atunci, vine când noi credem Evanghelia. Continuați să citiți Efeseni 4:8-10:

De aceea Scriptura spune: Când S-a suit la cer, a luat în sclavie captivitatea și a dat daruri oamenilor (v. 8).

(Când se spune ,,S-a suit “, înseamnă că, înainte, El coborâse în părțile mai de jos ale pămâtului (v. 9)?

El, Cel Care a coborât, este Același cu Cel Care S-a suit mai sus de ceruri, ca să umple toate lucrurile.) (v. 10)

Vedeți Evanghelia în aceste versete? Când Isus a fost înviat din morți, El a oferit daruri oamenilor. Care sunt darurile pe care El ni le-a dat.

Uitați-vă la Efeseni 4:11:

El i-a desemnat pe unii apostoli, pe alții profeți, pe altii evangheliști, pe alții pastori și învățători;

Aceasta este măsura darului lui Hristos că apostolul este darul pentru Biserică. Aceasta este măsura darului lui Hristos că profetul este darul pentru Biscerică. De asemena, aceasta este măsura darului lui Hristos că evanghelistul, pastorul și profesorul sunt darurile pentru Biscerică.

Care sunt scopurile acestor cinci ministere--apostolul, profetul, pastorul, profesorul și evanghelistul--în Biserică? Citiți Efeseni 4:12-13:

Pentru echiparea sfinților pentru lucrarea de slujire, pentru zidirea trupului lui Hristos (v. 12):

Până când vom ajunge toți la unitate în credință și în cunoașterea Fiului lui Dumnezeu, la omul matur și la măsura maturității [a] plinătății lui Hristos (v. 13).

Apostolii, profeții, pastorii, profesorii, și evangheliștii, slujind Evanghelia prin Duh, perfecționează sau completează sfinții.

Apostolul Pavel a fost un slujitor al Evangheliei. În Romani 15:15-19 El afirmă:

Cu toate acestea, v-am scris într-un mod mai îndrăzneț cu privire la unele lucruri, ca să vi le reamintesc, datorită harului care mi-a fost dat de către Dumnezeu (v. 15),

The Gift Of Christ, by Doyle Davidson, Chapter 9

Once you have received a revelation of the gospel, you must abide in Jesus to bear fruit in the kingdom of God. In John 15:4-5, Jesus states:

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye except ye abide in me (v. 4).

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (v. 5).

So many people in the Church today think that once they receive a little knowledge of the Word, they have the right to go anywhere and preach. Yet, in verse 4, Jesus states that we cannot bear fruit of ourselves. Verse 5 states that without Jesus, we can do nothing. It is Jesus, abiding in us, who bears the fruit.

Look at Galatians 2:20:

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Dead people cannot bear fruit. If you are crucified with Christ, you are no longer alive, and you cannot bear fruit.

In the mid-1970s, Jesus spoke John 15:16 to me:

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

It is Jesus who chooses us and ordains us for the work of the ministry.

Now, look at Ephesians 4:7:

But unto every one of us is give grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

You cannot study your way to God. You cannot confess your way to God. God’s calling on our lives is a gift, and it comes by grace. How do you access that grace?

Read Romans 5:1-2:

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (v. 1):

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God (v. 2).

Verse 2 states that we access the grace of God by faith. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing the word of God. I showed you earlier in this book that the gospel--that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day--is the word of God you need to hear for faith to come.

The work that God has for each one of us, then, comes when we believe the gospel. Continue reading Ephesians 4:8-10:

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men (v. 8).

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth (v. 9)?

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) (v. 10)

Do you see the gospel in these verses? When Jesus was raised from the dead, He gave gifts to men.What are the gifts that He gave us?

Look at Ephesians 4:11:

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

It is the measure of the gift of Christ the apostle that is the gift to the Church. It is the measure of the gift of Christ the prophet that is the gift to the Church. Accordingly, it is the measure of the gift of Christ the evangelist, pastor, and teacher that is the gift to the Church.

What are the purposes of these five ministries--the apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher, and evangelist--in the Church? Read Ephesians 4:12-13:

For the perfecting [completion] of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (v. 12):

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (v. 13):

Apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists, ministering the gospel by the Spirit, perfect or complete the saints.

The Apostle Paul was a minister of the gospel. In Romans 15:15-19 he states:

Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God (v. 15),

That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost (v. 16).

I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God (v. 17).

For I will not dare speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed (v. 18),

Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ (v. 19).

In Romans 15:29, Paul states:

And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

The fullness of the blessing of the gospel brings forth fruit to perfection.

What We Teach And Do

In the early 1970’s I had sold my very successful veterinary hospital and practice at the direction of God. It was not easy, but I knew I had to, I had to obey the voice of God. Several years later God moved me to Argyle Texas, putting me into the wilderness. I ended up with no money, had sold all my investments, had every religious leader around me on my case, I was desperate. I drove to a meeting in Fort Worth to hear and hopefully speak to a well-known TV Evangelist. When the meeting was over, I walked up to his wife, introduced myself, and asked if I could speak to him. She returned a couple minutes later and said he would not talk to me. I was heartbroken. I went to my car and started the drive home. Then the Spirit of God spoke to me, “He can’t help you, he doesn’t know how. Take your bible and I will teach you.” And He did.

For the next ten years the Spirit of God taught me the scriptures. He not only taught me, but I had to walk in them. It was that taking up my cross daily, walking in the doctrine I was being taught that brought my prosperity back, I overcame all the persecution, and at the end of that ten years, God spoke to me, “Go to Plano and speak to the people of Plano.”

These are the beginning words. This is what was taught in Water of Life Christian Training School, the first semester. This is what I have been teaching for the last forty years. This is what produces fruit…

Parabola Semănătorului, Capitolul 8

După ce am stabilit că Evanghelia este moartea, îngroparea și învierea lui Isus, aș vrea să aruncăm acum o privire la parabola semănătorului. Puteți găsi o relatare a acestei parabole în Matei capitolul 13, Marcu capitolul 4, și Luca capitolul 8. În Marcu 4:13, Isus a spus că dacă nu poți înțelege această parabola, nu ai cum să știi toate parabole. Vreau să încep cu relatarea lui Marcu despre parabola semănătorului.

Pe parcurs ce vom continua cu această parabolă, cred că va deveni și mai clar că “cuvântul” semănat este Evanghelia.

Inima de la Marginea Drumului

Citiți versetul 15:

Cei înfățișați prin sămânța căzută lângă drum, sunt aceia în care este semănat Cuvântul; dar după ce l-au auzit, vine Satana îndată, și ia Cuvântul semănat în ei.

În Luca 8:12, Luca ne spune:

Cei închipuiți în sămânța căzută lângă drum, sunt cei ce aud; apoi vine diavolul și ia Cuvântul din inima lor, ca nu cumva să creadă și să fie mântuiți.

Observați două lucruri. În primul rând, cuvântul este semănat în inimă--nu în minte sau intelect. În al doilea rând, Luca spune că Satana vine să înlăture cuvântul din inimă “ca nu cumva să creadă și să fie mântuiți”. Acest lucru m-a convins că “cuvânt” semănat este Evanghelia. V-am arătat pe parcursul acestei cărți că Evanghelia este cea care vă salvează.

Inima Pietroasă

Continuați să citiți Marcu 4:16-17:

Oamenii cu inimile de piatră primesc imediat cuvântul cu bucurie (“Oh, asta e o predică bună, frate!”), dar ei nu au nicio rădăcină, iar atunci când neczurile și persecuțiile vin, sunt ofensați.

Versetul 17 afirmă că necazul și persecuția vin de dragul cuvântului. Uitați-vă la Faptele Apostolilor 14:22:

Întărind sufletele uncenicilor. El îi îndemnă să stăruie în credință și spunea că în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu trebuie să intrăm prin multe necazuri.

Apostolii îndemnau ucenicii să “continue în credință” și “prin multe necazuri” să intre în Împărăție.

Fiți siguri că odată ce Dumnezeu începe să dezvăluie Evanghelia inimii tale, Satana va veni imediat cu necaz și suferință pentru a te face să cazi în păcat. Consideră Luca 16:16:

Legea și proorocii au ținut până la Ioan; de atunci încoace, Evanghelia Împărăției lui Dumnezeu se propovăduiește: și fiecare, ca să intre în ea, dă năvală.

Cuvântul “năvală” înseamnă să intri cu forță. Trebuie să intrați cu forță în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu. Cum? Romani 1:16 afirmă că Evanghelia este putere sau abilitatea lui Dumnezeu pentru a salva pe fiecare care crede. Trebuie să ai încredere, să te bazezi pe și să aderi la Evanghelie--că Isus a murit, că a fost îngropat și că a înviat a treia zi--pentru a depăși suferința și necazul pe care Satana îl aduce înpotriva ta.

Fii bine dispus. Isus este exemplul nostru. Isus a suferit mai mult decât vom avea noi vreodată de suferit și Isus a biruit la fel cum și voi și eu vom birui--crezând în puterea Evangheliei. Uitați-vă la ce a spus Isus în Ioan 16:33:

V-am spus aceste lucruri ca să aveți pace în Mine. În lume veți avea necazuri; dar îndrăzniți, Eu am biruit lumea.

Isus a biruit lumea încrezându-se în, bazându-se pe și aderând la promisiunea că Dumnezeu Îl va ridica în cea de-a treia zi. Aceasta este aceeași Evanghelie în care eu și voi trebuie să credem.

Inima spinoasă

Al treilea tip de inimă din parabola semănătorului este o inimă spinoasă. Citiți Marcu 4:18-19:

Alții sunt cei înfățișați prin sămânța căzută între spini; aceștia sunt cei ce aud Cuvântul (v. 18),

Dar năvălesc în ei grijile lumii, înșelăciunea bogățiilor și poftele altor lucruri, care îneacă Cuvântul, și-l fac astfel neroditor (v. 19).

Uitați-vă la Coloseni 1:5-6:

Din pricina nădejdii care vă așteaptă în ceruri și despre care ați auzit mai înainte în cuvântul adevărului Evangheliei (v. 5);

Care a ajuns până la voi și este în toată lumea, unde dă roade și merge crescând, ca și între voi. Și aceasta, din ziua în care ați auzit și ați cunoscut harul lui Dumnezeu, în adevăr (v. 6):

Versetul 6 afirmă că Evanghelia este cea care aduce roade în viața ta. Dacă aveți griji în lumea asta, vă înșeală bogățiile, și poftele altor lucruri sunt în inima voastră, acestea vor sufoca Evanghelia care a fost semănată în inima voastră și Luca 8:14 ne spune că nu veți aduce niciun rod către perfecțiune.

Inima Bună

A patra inimă din parabola semănătorului este inima bună și cinstită. Uită-te la Marcu 4:20:

Alții apoi sunt înfățișați prin sămânța căzută în pământ bun. Aceștia sunt cei ce aud Cuvântul, îl primesc și fac roadă: unul treizeci, altul șaizeci și altul o sută.

O inimă bună aude cuvântul și-l primește. Matei 13:23 afirmă că o inimă bună aude cuvântul și îl înțelege. Luca 8:15 afirmă că o inimă bună și cinstită aude și îl păstrează și aduce mai departe, cu răbdare, roade.

Dacă primim și ținem la Evanghelie--că Isus a murit pentru păcatele noastre, că El a fost îngropat și că El a înviat a treia zi, aceasta va aduce roade mai departe în viața noastră.

The Parable Of The Sower, by Doyle Davidson, Chapter 8

Having established that the gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, I would like to take a look now at the parable of the sower. You can find an account of this parable in Matthew chapter 13, Mark chapter 4, and Luke chapter 8. In Mark 4:13, Jesus said that if you cannot understand this parable how can you know all parables. I want to start with Mark’s account of the parable of the sower.

Look at Mark 4:14 with me:

The sower soweth the word.

By now, you probably know what I am going to say, but please humor me. The “word” that Jesus is talking about here has got to be the gospel--the death, burial, and resurrection. In Matthew 13:19, Matthew calls it the “word of the kingdom.” We saw in Mark 1:14 that Jesus came preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God. As we continue on with this parable, I believe it will become even clearer that the “word” sown is the gospel.

The Way-Side Heart

Read verse 15:

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

In Luke 8:12, Luke says:

Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Notice two things. First, the word is sown in the heart--not the mind or intellect. Second, Luke says that Satan comes to take the word out of a way-side heart “lest they should believe and be saved.” This is what convinced me that the “word” sown is the gospel. I have shown you throughout this book that the gospel is what saves you.

The Stony Heart

Continue reading Mark 4:16-17:

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately received it with gladness (v. 16);

And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended. (v. 17)

People with stony hearts immediately receive the word with gladness (“Oh, that is great preaching, brother!”), but they have no root, and when affliction and persecution come, they are offended.

Verse 17 states that affliction and persecution come for the word’s sake. Look at Acts 14:22:

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

The apostles were exhorting the disciples to “continue in the faith” and “through much tribulation” enter into the kingdom.

Be assured that once God starts revealing the gospel to your heart, Satan will immediately come with tribulation and affliction to make you stumble. Consider Luke 16:16:

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

The word “press” means to force. You must forcefully enter the kingdom of God. How? Romans 1:16 states that the gospel is the power or the ability of God unto salvation to every one who believes. You must trust in, rely on, and adhere to the gospel--that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day--to overcome the affliction and tribulation that Satan brings against you.

Be of good cheer. Jesus is our example. Jesus suffered more than we will ever have to suffer, and Jesus overcame the say way you and I will overcome--by believing the power of the gospel. Look at what Jesus said in John 16:33:

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus overcame the world by trusting in, relying on, and adhering to the promise that God would raise Him up the third day. That is the same gospel that you and I are to believe.

The Thorny Heart

The third kind of heart in the parable of the sower is a thorny heart. Read Mark 4:18-19:

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word (v. 18),

And the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful (v. 19).

Look at Colossians 1:4-6:

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel (v. 5);

Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth (v. 6):

Verse 6 states that the gospel is what brings forth fruit in your life. If you have cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches, and lusts of other things in your heart, they will choke the gospel that was sown in your heart, and Luke 8:14 says that you will bring no fruit to perfection.

The Good Heart

The fourth heart in the parable of the sower is the good and honest heart. Look at Mark 4:20:

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

A good heart hears the word and receives it. Matthew 13:23 states that a good heart hears the word and understands it. Luke 8:15 states that a good and honest heart hears the word and keeps it and brings forth fruit with patience.

If we receive and hold fast to the gospel--that Jesus died for our sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day, it will bring forth fruit in our life.

Great Testimony of the Power of God

After reading the new testament this morning, I started praying Isaiah 53:4-5, as I did chore's around the house. Within a few minutes, this testimony of Doyle Davidson came up in my heart and I became more strengthen and my faith started to rise up.

Carrollton
Doyle left Argyle in June 1976 and moved to Carrolton, living there for
eleven months. The following is a testimony of overcoming physical
affliction:
“My grandfather, Frank Miller started walking with a cane when he
was forty years old, because of pain in his knees. The devil told me for
years, ‘When you turn forty you are going to have knee problems like
your grandfather.’ I had been under tremendous pressure in Argyle from
religious spirits with Baptists ministers who had been after me because I
wouldn’t submit to their church. It brought great affliction to my body
and my knees were very sore, making it hard for me to mow my yard with
a push mower.
I purposed one day in June, I was going to overcome this, I WAS going
to mow my yard with a push mower, and I walked for two miles on a
concrete sidewalk, in great pain, speaking Isaiah 53:
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did
esteem his stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed.
The next day, I could barely walk. I said, ‘Devil, I’m going two more
miles’ and after about a mile and a half walking on the sidewalk
speaking Isaiah 53:4-5, the power of God broke through and healed my
knees and they have never hurt since. I have jogged on asphalt, concrete,
grass, wherever I’ve been, and today thirty-six years later, there is not a
pain in either knee.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

3 Isus le-a răspuns:

– Nu este nici pentru că a păcătuit el, nici pentru că au păcătuit părinţii lui, ci s-a născut aşa ca să se arate în el lucrările lui Dumnezeu. 4 Cât este zi, trebuie să lucrăm lucrările Celui Ce M-a trimis. Vine noaptea, când nimeni nu mai poate să lucreze. 5 Cât sunt în lume, sunt lumina lumii.

6 Şi zicând aceasta, a scuipat pe pământ, a făcut nişte noroi din salivă şi l-a pus pe ochii orbului. 7 Apoi i-a zis: „Du-te şi spală-te în bazinul Siloamului!“ Tradus, Siloam înseamnă «Trimis» El s-a dus, s-a spălat şi s-a întors văzând bine. 8 Vecinii şi cei care-l văzuseră mai înainte, pe când era cerşetor, se întrebau: „Nu este acesta cel ce şedea şi cerşea?!“ 9 Unii ziceau: „El este!“ Alţii ziceau: „Nu, dar seamănă cu el!“ Iar el zicea: „Eu sunt!“ 10 Prin urmare, l-au întrebat:

– Cum atunci ţi-au fost deschişi ochii?

11 El a răspuns:

– Omul Acela, Căruia I se zice Isus, a făcut noroi, mi-a uns ochii şi mi-a zis: „Du-te la Siloam şi spală-te!“ Aşa că m-am dus, m-am spălat şi apoi am putut vedea.

12 Ei l-au întrebat:

– Unde este El?

– Nu ştiu! a răspuns el.

13 L-au adus la farisei pe cel ce fusese orb. 14 Ziua în care Isus făcuse noroi şi-i deschisese ochii era o zi de Sabat. 15 Din nou, fariseii l-au întrebat şi ei cum de şi-a căpătat vederea. El le-a răspuns:

– Mi-a pus noroi pe ochi, m-am spălat şi văd!

Cercetarea celui vindecat de către farisei

16 Unii dintre farisei ziceau: „Acesta nu este de la Dumnezeu, pentru că nu ţine Sabatul!“ Alţii însă ziceau: „Cum poate un om păcătos să facă astfel de semne?!“ Aşa că era dezbinare între ei. 17 L-au întrebat din nou pe orb:

– Tu ce zici despre El, pentru că ţie ţi-a deschis ochii?

El le-a răspuns:

– Este un profet.

18 Iudeii însă n-au crezut că fusese orb şi că îşi căpătase vederea, până când nu i-au chemat pe părinţii lui. 19 Ei i-au întrebat:

– Acesta este fiul vostru, despre care spuneţi că s-a născut orb? Atunci cum de vede acum?

20 Părinţii lui au răspuns:

– Ştim că acesta este fiul nostru şi că s-a născut orb, 21 însă cum de vede acum sau Cine i-a deschis ochii, nu ştim. Întrebaţi-l pe el! Este în vârstă şi va vorbi el cu privire la sine!

22 Părinţii lui au spus aceste lucruri fiindcă le era frică de iudei. Căci iudeii hotărâseră deja că dacă va mărturisi cineva că Isus este Cristosul, să fie dat afară din sinagogă. 23 De aceea au zis părinţii lui: „Este în vârstă; întrebaţi-l pe el!“

24 L-au chemat a doua oară pe omul care fusese orb şi i-au zis:

– Dă slavă lui Dumnezeu! Noi ştim că Omul Acesta este păcătos.

25 El le-a răspuns:

– Dacă este păcătos, nu ştiu. Eu una ştiu: eram orb, iar acum văd!

26 Ei l-au întrebat:

– Ce ţi-a făcut? Cum ţi-a deschis ochii?

27 El le-a răspuns:

– V-am spus deja, dar n-aţi ascultat. De ce vreţi să auziţi din nou? Doar nu vreţi şi voi să deveniţi ucenicii Lui?!

28 Ei l-au insultat şi i-au zis:

– Tu eşti ucenicul Aceluia! Noi însă suntem ucenicii lui Moise! 29 Noi ştim că lui Moise i-a vorbit Dumnezeu, dar Acesta nu ştim de unde este!

30 Omul le-a răspuns:

– Dar tocmai acesta este lucrul de mirare, că voi nu ştiţi de unde este şi totuşi El mi-a deschis ochii! 31 Ştim că Dumnezeu nu-i ascultă pe păcătoşi, dar dacă cineva este temător de Dumnezeu şi face voia Lui, pe acela îl ascultă. 32 De când este lumea nu s-a auzit ca cineva să deschidă ochii unuia care s-a născut orb. 33 Dacă Acesta nu era de la Dumnezeu, n-ar fi putut face nimic.

34 Ei i-au zis:

– Tu ai fost născut cu totul în păcat şi tu ne înveţi pe noi?!

Şi l-au dat afară.

Orbirea spirituală

35 Isus a auzit că l-au dat afară şi când l-a găsit l-a întrebat:

– Tu crezi în Fiul Omului[c]?

36 El I-a răspuns:

– Şi Cine este, Domnule, ca să cred în El?

37 Isus i-a zis:

– L-ai şi văzut; Cel Ce vorbeşte cu tine este Acela!

38 (El a răspuns:

– Cred, Doamne!

Şi I s-a închinat. 39 Isus i-a zis:)[d]

– Eu am venit în lumea aceasta pentru judecată, pentru ca cei ce nu văd, să vadă, iar cei ce văd, să devină orbi.

40 Unii dintre fariseii care erau cu El, când au auzit acestea, I-au zis:

– Doar nu suntem şi noi orbi?!

41 Isus le-a răspuns:

– Dacă aţi fi orbi, n-aţi avea păcat; dar acum, pentru că ziceţi: „Vedem!“, păcatul vostru rămâne!
